Janet Stone, MPT and Jim Stone
Owners
Janet graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University in 1983 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She and her husband, Jim, opened Exercise Therapy Consultants in May of 1998, after seeing a need for personalized physical therapy in the Kansas City area.
Janet has spent most of her years as a physical therapist in the outpatient setting, with extensive training and experience in treating back and neck injuries, TMJ conditions, chronic pain, headaches and sports injuries.
Janet is also certified by WorkHab to perform functional capacity evaluations. She is trained in therapeutic exercise, McKenzie’s technique, myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, craniosacral therapy, strain/counter strain, muscle energy, spine mobilization and manipulation, extremity mobilization, neural mobilization, lumbar stabilization, PNF, and vestibular rehabilitation. She has taken numerous classes in advanced treatment techniques.
In her free time, Janet enjoys Zumba, weight training, cardiovascular exercise, playing the piano, and crocheting. She lives in Belton with her husband and their three dogs. Janet and Jim’s son, Matthew, recently graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a dual degree in aerospace and mechanical engineering. He now works for the government performing research and development on a Naval aircraft.

Sabrina Khan
Director of Marketing
Sabrina graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She's been in medical sales for 18 years and has a passion for business development as well as being dedicated to patient care.
Christina Layman
Director of Administration
Christina began working for ETC Physical Therapy in March of 2008, specializing in administrative support, for which she handles all billing and insurance issues. While extraordinarily busy with the behind the scenes work of the clinic, she is sure to welcome all patients and provides a personable experience at our Business Office.
Christina has lived in the Kansas City area for most of her life. She has two grown children and in 2014, she married her best friend, Scott. They have five handsome grandsons and a beautiful granddaughter together.
Kyla Gibson
Director of Benefits and A/P
Kyla graduated in 2000 from Park University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Finance. She has over 15 years’ experience in the Mortgage industry and decided a career change was needed, which led to this position with ETC. She enjoy’s seeing patients meet their goals and feel better.
Kyla enjoys spending free time with her husband and three daughters. Most of her time outside of work is spent running to various activities for the girls and weekends from April to October are usually spent at the race track watching her husband race.

Shannon Smith, PTA
Shannon graduated from Minnesota State University, Moorhead with a Bachelor’s in Biology, Emphasis on Health and Medical Sciences, Pre-PT in 2016, and moved back to Missouri to graduate from State Technical College of Missouri in Linn with an Associates in PTA in 2018. She began working PRN in nursing facilities until she found her passion for the outpatient setting. She loves helping patients improve their quality of life--whether recovering from surgery, simple injury, or major accident; the best part being she is right there with them every step of their recovery journey.
Her hobbies include video games, camping, fishing, being outdoors, and watching a good horror movie. She loves vacationing on the east coast and relaxing on the beach. She has a one-year-old corgi named Koda that enjoys playing outside and going for walks!

Megan Burns, DPT
Megan graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2020 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Prior to that, she graduated from Central Methodist University in May 2017 with her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. Before starting at ETC in October 2021, she worked in an outpatient clinic in Knob Noster, seeing mostly Air Force members and their families. Throughout PT school she worked as a licensed Athletic Trainer for several different high school and middle school sport teams and has always had a passion with working with athletes.
Megan enjoys playing soccer and played for her university’s Women’s Soccer team from 2013-2017 as a goal keeper. She currently lives in Grain Valley with her husband, 2 dogs, and is expecting her first child at the end of January.

Suzi Hamilton
Suzi started with ETC in January of 2022. She has a background in the beauty, fitness, and Veterinary industries. Suzi earned her Associate degree in Fitness and Nutrition from Wellspring Schools of Allied Health in 2018 and has been a licensed Esthetician since 2014. Her favorite things include Mexican food, animals, and Hersheys cookies and cream candy bars. Suzi is a proud fur mama of 3: Her 9 year old cat Spike, her 2 year border collie mix Millie and her 4 year old American Bulldog Marsha; All of whom are rescues. One fun fact about Suzi is that her life moto is "Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge."

Chris Middlebusher, PT
Chris graduated in 1991 from Wichita State University with a degree in Physical Therapy. Over the years, she has worked in multiple settings including two years as a traveling PT. She spent the past 20+ years in northwest Missouri working in outpatient, inpatient, and Home Health for a rural hospital.
During her free time, Chris enjoys hiking, traveling, photography, biking, and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs.

Chandra Stephens, PTA
Chandra is a weight lifting enthusiast! Powerlifting and olympic-style lifting has been her passion since 2016. She has worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 2007, providing skilled assistance in treating musculoskeletal injuries and post-operative orthopedic patients, utilizing skills in corrective exercise techniques, neuromuscular re-education, muscle energy technique, myofascial release and skilled modality application in multiple settings since 2007. She is an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and loves to spend her free time at the local gym, checking out the latest on Netflix, or training with her dog.

Kiersten Wake
Kiersten came to ETC in June 2022 after having here son in January 2022. She came to ETC looking for flexibility with having a brand-new baby and helping care for her step daughter. They have been more than understanding and she has come to love being a Patient Care Coordinator and seeing the changes in patients as they progress. Outside of work i enjoy spending time with her family, movies and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jennifer Mattson, MPT
Jen has worked with ETC Physical Therapy since August of 2007. Prior to that, she worked in the inpatient rehabilitation department at North Kansas City Hospital. Jennifer’s primary location is the Lee’s Summit clinic, where she incorporates a combination of therapeutic and functional exercise with manual therapy techniques to meet each patient’s needs.
Before working in the physical therapy field, Jennifer was a competitive gymnastics coach and continues to enjoy working with young athletes. While she treats a wide variety of diagnoses, her passion is to treat those dealing with orthopedic injuries. During her free time, Jennifer enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her family.
Natasha Johnson, PCC
Natasha is a Kansas City native and has worked in the healthcare community around the metro for the last 10 years. She began her career during high school, by obtaining her certification as a nursing assistant and began working in healthcare facilities thereon after.
Natasha has developed a strong sense of devotion to patient care since day one and continues to empower patients to take the best care of themselves.
In 2014, Natasha began working from home and during this time she has been blessed with three wonderful children.
Her family loves spending time at the lake every chance they get!

Taylor Ballantyne, DPT, CSCS

Taylor graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University on 2019. Prior to that, he received his Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science from Rockhurst University. Taylor enjoys working with athletes and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has experience working with all manners of orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions and specializes in working with conditions of the spine.

Marisa Giacobbi
Marisa joined the ETC work family on August 10, 2020. She chose ETC Physical Therapy due to the quality one on one care we give our patients. Patients and employees are not just numbers here. Her professional career started in 1994 in the dental field and transitioned to physical therapy in 2006. It is evident she has a servant’s heart demonstrated by her genuine love to help others at work and in everything she does. Marisa has integrity and strives to give the best experience she can to the patients. She puts God first, followed by her family and friends.

Kira Rutherford, PTA
Kira joined ETC April 2022. She graduated from Hutchinson Community College with her AAS degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant in May of 2021. She got interested in Physical Therapy after watching her older brother go through physical therapy following a sport related injury in his collegiate football career. From that point on, she decided she wanted to be the person that supports others in their journey to get back to being their best selves - not only on the physical level, but also mentally. She is passionate about orthopedics, sport injuries, as well as pediatrics.
Outside of work, she enjoys being able to spend time with her beautiful wife-to-be, their 6-year-old son, and their 3 rescue pups! She loves anything and everything sports related - specifically regarding the Atlanta Falcons - and playing rugby on the local women's team. She also enjoys being outdoors when she can and exploring local breweries!
