In an effort to provide quality Physical Therapy to all of our patients, ETC is working with Bluestream Health to provide Telehealth visits to our patients that are not able to be seen in our clinics. New patients’ Initial Evaluation’s will need to be done in person at one of our clinics, then subsequent visits may be offered through Telehealth arrangements. Please ask your therapist or call one of our clinics to get started or if you have any questions!

How does Telehealth Work?

Step 1

Contact your local ETC physical therapy clinic and tell them you want to start with Telehealth sessions. Also fill out the consent form at the bottom of this page.

Step 2

At your scheduled appointment time have your computer or cell phone charged and ready, and find a bright, quiet area with some space to film yourself during the session

Step 3

You will receive an email or a text message with a hyperlink (will start with Click the underlined text within the email or text message.

Step 4

Please read and text and check the box to consent to therapy. You may also be asked to enable your camera and microphone. Please click “ok” or “allow”.

Step 5

You will then see a flashing blue circle, please do not click away from this screen. Once your therapist is available you will be connected and your session will begin!

  • Why should I choose ETC instead of another physical therapy clinic?
    Unlike many clinics, ETC strives to provide you with One on One treatment with certified therapist who will work with you to set goals and help you improve your condition. During your initial evaluation, your therapist will design a customized program to fit your individual needs and work toward your goals. If you have any questions or concerns about starting therapy, give us a call and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
  • What can I expect during my first visit?
    When you arrive for your first appointment, you will complete initial patient paperwork (you can also complete paperwork prior to your appointment by visiting this page), provide us with your physical therapy prescription (if applicable) and insurance information. You will be seen by a physical therapist who will discuss your medical history, current complaints, pain level (aggravating and easing factors), current medications, and your goals for physical therapy.
  • I think physical therapy might help me. What do I need to start PT services?
    In Kansas, it is no longer a requirement for a physician to refer a patient to physical therapy, simply contact us to set up an appointment today. In Missouri, a written prescription from a health care provider is required for physical therapy services. Your physician will write you a prescription for treatment and evaluation, which can be faxed to one of our clinics or brought to the clinic in person. All we need to schedule an appointment is your physical therapy prescription and insurance information.
  • Where are you located?
    We have several locations throughout the Kansas City area including Belton, Blue Springs, Brookside, Harrisonville, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, and Pleasant Hill.
  • I’m not sure I can afford physical therapy services. What do I do?
    We accept most insurance plans; you can view a complete list of in-network providers here. We do our best to work with those who have high deductibles or are out-of-network. We also have payment plans to help spread out the cost of therapy and make it more affordable for you.
  • What should I wear to my appointments?
    We recommend wearing something comfortable, such as work-out clothes or loose fitting casual clothing. Each session will involve gentle movement, stretching, and various exercises to address your specific concern. Our therapists may want to visually inspect the area of the injury so wearing clothes that allow easier access is appreciated.
  • Do you work with children?
    Yes, we see patients of all ages and types of need. If your child is a minor, you will need to complete all registration paperwork for them and attend their appointments with them.
  • What is a Home Exercise Program (HEP)?
    After your initial visit, your physical therapist will provide you with personalized exercises designed to fit your needs. You may be provided with pictures and instructions on how to complete each exercise at home. Completing your HEP as recommended is key to a successful rehab process, as these exercises supplement everything you do during your in-clinic therapy sessions. The instructions sheet the therapists give you will provide you with the amount of repetitions and how many times per day each exercise should be performed.
  • How long will my treatment take?
    Each session will last approximately 30 minutes to 40 minutes depending on your insurance. Often our therapists will strive to give you extra time as schedules allow. How frequently you attend and the duration of your treatment will be determined by your physical therapist and physician. Some issues can be improved within a few visits; more severe or chronic conditions may require long-term treatment.
  • I have a very busy schedule; how will I make time for physical therapy?
    Our clinics strive to meet the needs of patient scheduling. ETC is committed to providing therapy services that work for you or your family member.
  • What happens if I am running late or unable to attend a scheduled appointment?
    If you are running late or need to cancel an appointment, please call us and let us know, so we can do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs. We understand that life can become hectic, but please do your best to provide us with at least 24 hours notice when cancelling an appointment. We reserve the right to charge patients a no-call, no-show fee when we are not provided with notice of your inability to make your reserved session time.
  • Will my physician be involved in the rehab process?
    Close communications will be kept between your physical therapist and physician. After the initial session, your therapist will send the physician detailed results from the examination and the plan for therapy. Progress notes will also be sent to update your physician throughout the entire therapy process.
  • My doctor wants me to try physical therapy, but I’m not sure it will help. What if it doesn’t improve my pain?"
    Our therapists take care to closely monitor the progress of our patients and follow up with their healthcare professionals on a regular basis regarding their treatment. We make sure that our patients are making steps forward and communicate any concerns with the referring doctor. If your physical therapist feels another course of treatment would benefit you, we will not continue to see you unnecessarily.
